On October 31, the English Program organized a Halloween Day activity, giving students the opportunity to learn about the origins of Halloween. The activities included telling the history of Halloween, performing arts, watching movies, trick-or-treating, and dressing up as various ghosts. Trick-or-treating and exchanging candy provided a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Halloween falls on the night before All Saints’ Day in Christianity, when the spirits of the dead are believed to come out to wreak havoc on the human world. The ancient Celts therefore held a celebration to welcome these spirits and pray that they would not harm them.
